RUNAWAY is an apparel and lifestyle brand empowering you to run from convention.
Through a combination of apparel, art exhibitions, concerts, documentary filmmaking and more, our company is pioneering a new wave of creative hustle in North Carolina and beyond.
Founded in 2011 by visual artist Gabe Eng-Goetz, the brand is inspired by those who pursue their passions in search of something greater than themselves. In 2016, with the overwhelming support of our fans, RUNAWAY opened its flagship location in the heart of downtown Durham. Our space serves as both a retail store for the quality goods produced by RUNAWAY, and a gallery for like-minded artists and creatives.
Durham is at a crossroads. Our small college town, once known to the country almost exclusively as the home of tobacco and Duke basketball, is now garnering national headlines as a hotspot for tech talent and venture capital investment.
As the city seeks to move forward and maintain its authenticity in changing times, our team embraces progress while honoring the past through our DURM™ campaign by encouraging people to "say it like you're from here."
Collections like Black Wall Street and Ciudad Del Toro look to shed light on the rich, diverse history that invigorates our work every day. This work extends to collaborating with like-minded artists and businesses to better our community through various creative projects.
