Runaway and Raund Haus join forces to bring HW&W artist Tek.Lun to Durham

A collaboration months in the making.

At the first Raund Haus show, hosted at The Shed in February, you could sense that something special was taking shape. Only months after the inaugural Moogfest Dial-tones event in Durham, Raund Haus highlighted what the heads already knew; the beat scene in the Triangle was prolific and on maneuvers.

Fast forward eight months, with appearances from Raund Haus alumni at both Moogfest and Hopscotch, and you have a community of musicians whose influence is becoming increasingly evident, and powerfu.

For November 12, Raund Haus and RUNAWAY have collaborated to recruit the talents of Baltimore producer Tek.Lun (of HW&W) for a headlining performance at The Pinhook with lineup support from Tennis Rodman, Zoomo and OG Senpaiii.

Hubbble, an organizer for Raund Haus, spent years in Los Angeles where HW&W is based, booking artists and curating shows that often included performers from the label. His goal is to foster an appreciation for the art of beatmaking within Triangle listeners similar to the one that drives the scene in LA.

“In collaborating with Runaway on this gig, I think Raund Haus will be able to expose the Triangle to some of the more innovative artists out there right alongside some of the [Triangle] area’s most forward thinking beatmakers.”

As the saying goes, “you are the company you keep.” With the likes of Ta-ku, Pomo and Kaytranda as label mates, it would be hard to argue against the proverb in the case of Tek.Lun. Don’t be fooled; he’s not just another producer on the roster. His style is sonically unique and pure in execution, despite clear influences from his colleagues. Heavy bass, powerful synths and the occasional piano melody easily move between trap, G-funk or boom bap, providing an eclectic range. With four releases under his belt at the ancient age of 22, Hubbble shares his admiration for the young producer’s early success.

“It’s inspiring to see how a youthful talent like Tek can go ‘all in’ with a career in music production and be relatively successful due to the support from people all over the world through the web.”

Los Angeles is the epicenter of the beatmaking world, but Raund Haus has developed a number of young talents of its own. HW&W and Raund Haus is a lethal duo that we suspect isn’t done bringing collaborating.

Tickets for the show are available here.
