Professor Toon & Well$ at Moogfest 2016
Posted on 16 May 2017
They're not the big names on the lineup. Actually, they're not even the medium-sized names on the lineup. But to the surrounding music and arts scene, the local and regional acts that play a major music festival like Moogfest can exert as much influence on the weekend as the big acts that fly in for headline performances, if not more.
Last May, during Moogfest's first year in Durham, we followed rappers Professor Toon and Well$ to see what playing a big festival as a smaller act entailed. It ended up involving lasers, a collaboration with Sylvan Esso beatmaker (and Durham resident) Nick Sanborn, and a random digression about guacamole. And three performances in 36 hours.
Moogfest kicks off its second year in Durham this Thursday, May 18th. If you don't want to miss out on an amazing weekend of music and futuristic thought, get your last-minute tix at tickets.moogfest.com
